I’m Karen Scott-Sassadeck—Owner and Founder of Trace of Essence.

I want to take a few minutes to share my lovely story.



My journey into skincare didn’t begin with a product.
It began with a belief: that caring for your skin should feel intentional, effective, and beautifully simple.

For years, I created a custom facial oil for myself—something I trusted, something I loved, and something I never went without.

It became my daily luxury.
My quiet moment.
My skin’s foundation.

What began as a personal ritual slowly became something more—
a formulation designed to support my skin without overwhelming it, using thoughtfully chosen, high-quality ingredients.

I shared it only with those closest to me—family and a few dear friends—never imagining it would one day become a brand.

But sometimes, the most beautiful things in life begin that way…
quietly.



In the summer of 2020, I brought a small brown bottle of my oil with me on a trip. Before leaving, I gifted it to a dear friend who had fallen in love with its scent.

Weeks later, back home in Idaho, we were catching up when she said something that would change everything:

“Karen… you need to share this.”

There was a pause…

and then a name surfaced.

Trace of Essence.

It felt immediate. Aligned. Meant to be.

Within two weeks, the first bottle was created.

What had once been a personal ritual became something tangible—something real.

A product born from intention, experience, and a deep appreciation for both skin health and sensory beauty.

That moment didn’t just create a product…
